What my title doesn’t say about my work: There are times when a Data Scientist is more like a Data Artist. Also Software Debugger, Project Manager, UI Designer, or Office Janitor. I’m not that picky, even though I hold my title very dear.
In reality, "Think beyond AI" means…: Taking AI as the tool it is, instead of getting lost in the sea of hype or “building AI for the sake of having AI”.
What kind of problems are you particularly good at solving?: If you have a technical issue that is totally mystical and no one seems to know where it originates, I usually have the crazy stubbornness it takes to dig deep enough.
What sets you apart from other AI consultants?: I bet I’m shorter than most! I also have a certain reluctance to use the term “AI”, but even I have started to give in a bit on that front.
An experience from my career that shook my thinking: At a very early stage of my career I joined a software project as a trainee in a bystander role, and ended up noticing a significant gap in the specifications. This definitely taught me that sometimes it takes a fresh pair of eyes to spot something important, so voicing one’s concerns can save a lot of company money.
